XL Bike to Bike

Q:  What do I get in the kit?

A: The XL & XL Pro kits come with headset, radio, battery, drop-in charger, Professional Ptt button and

    interconnecting leads.

Q:  Do I get 2 kits for the price quoted?

A:  No, the prices for each kit are per person = One rider’s kit.  If you want to talk between bikes, you

need to have a kit per person.

Q:  What sort of range can I expect?

A:  The A80 radio is supplied pre-set to the maximum UK allowed power output of ½ watt.  This is good

for about ¾ of a mile bike to bike at 70 mph depending on conditions.

The radio is actually a 2 watt unit, so it can be unlocked to release it’s full power.  This would not

comply with current PMR446 regulations in the UK.

Q:  How do I unlock the radio to it’s 2 watt output?

A:  See our “Tech/Help” section.

Q:  How do I access the “hidden” 69 LPD Channels ?

A:  See our “Tech/Help” section.  The LPD Channels are only available on newer radios bought within

the past 3 months or so.

Q:  Are the XL & XL Pro kits useable by VOX (Voice Activated Transmission)?

A:  No.  Although the radios are capable of VOX transmission, you must understand that the manufacturers

of radios make their vox circuitry to work in quiet rooms, not with around 80 decibels of wind noise

howling around your helmet !  This is why we, and other intercom manufacturers, make “vox boxes”

that  have special circuitry to compensate for excessive wind noise in the background.  Without it, your

normal radio will struggle to activate properly at much over 50 mph.

Our Professional Ptt button is easy, comfortable and positive to use - every time.

Q:  Can I play music, add Gps or other devices to my XL or XL Pro kit.

A:  No, it’s not designed for that and because of the massive volume output from the A80 radio there is

a small chance that it could damage your added device.

Q:   Does the Remote Antenna fit other makes of Radio?

A:   No.  It is designed exclusively for the A80 series radios and no others.
